I made this book mark for a swap that I joined on Facebook. I cut the book mark out at 7" using my ANIMAL KINGDOM cricut cart.  I used the Bird on page 93.  The Blue Bird is cut at 2" using my ANIMAL KINGDOM cricut cart.  Again, I used the bird on page 93.

A Pink Paper Digi Delight

I have decided to enter the "A Pink Paper Digi Delight" challenge over at  Scraphappy Paper Crafters click their name to visit their site and learn more about this challenge.

I used a Pink Polka Dot paper from Stampin' Up, chose to use Scraphappy Crafters WITCH and a sentiment grom The Crafty Nomad.

I chose to do my WITCH in PINK, I colored her with Copic Markers and added some glitter to her hat.

I intend to send this card to my Granddaughter for Halloween.

Back To School Apple Card

First I want to say that I am disappointed that I never get any "COMMENTS" good or bad.  I love it when people tell me how nice my cards are but, I like when someone leaves "CONSTIVE CRITICISM"  that way I know what it is I need to improve on.  So PLEASE leave me some comments.  Thank You!

With that being said lets go with my first card of the day.  This card comes to you via "The Cardmakers Bible"  edited by Cheryl Brown.

You Will Need:
Single fold card 5in square
Light and Dark Green Paper
Now here's where I changed things; the book called for a square and apple punch.  However, I used my Cricut Cartridges.  To make the SQUARE I used "Accent Essentials" accent #27s and cut them at 1 3/4 then I used "DoodleCharms" to cut my "APPLE" at 1 1/4

Instructions:
Cut out 3 apples and 3 squares in your Light Green Paper and 3 apples and 3 squares in your Dark Green Paper.  Place your squares on your card alternating the Light and Dark Green so that you have 2 Light Green and 1 Dark Green for your first row.  Your second row should have 2 Dark Green and 1 Light Green.  Your Dark Green Apples go on your Light Green squares and your Light Green Apples go on your Dark Green squares.

This card can be used for so many different things. You can use a Heart for Valentines, A Mother's Day flower for Mothers Day, or a Rabbit for Easter.

Now for a Picture of the card.  I used Apples so that my son can give this card to his teacher as a "Welcome Back To School" card.

Making The Booklets

I got this project from the book "MAKING MINI BOWS" by Kathleen McCafferty.  She has many great Mini Book ideas and all are easy to make. There are illustrations at the back of the book for each stitch that she uses and templates for some of the projects that call for them.  Check out her book if you haven't already.

Finished Dimensions
Five books, each 3 1/2 x 4 1/2 inches (8.9 x 11.4 cm)

Stitch Used
Pamphlet (see below for directions)

Materials
20 pieces of paper, about 4 1/2 x 7 inches (11.4 x 17.8 cm)
Thread of your choice

Tools
Craft Knife
Ruler
Bone Folder
Awl or Paper Punch
Sewing Needle

Directions

1} Trim Paper [if needed] into 15 sheets of 4 1/2 x 7 inches (11.4 x 17.8 cm).
2} Fold each sheet in half to make a folio of 4 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches (11.4 x 8.9 cm) and crease with the bone
     folder.
3} Nest 3 folios together to make a signature.  Repeat to make a total of 5 signatures.
4} Punch 3 holes along the fold of the first signature with an awl or paper punch. Repeat for each signature.
5} Bind one of the signatures using a pamphlet stitch.  (see below) Instead of starting with the needle on the
inside of the booklet, start your stitch on the outside fold.  Tie the ends of the thread together on the outside.
     Repeat for each signature.

Here's the ones that I made.  I put a saying on the front of each one. I also used a separate color for the cover of the five books.  This was on top of the 3 signatures that I  nested together.

How to do a PAMPHLET STITCH

1] Cut a piece of string 3 times the length of your book
2] Open the book and thread the string through the center

3] Thread the string through the top hole
4] Next, thread the string through the bottom hole, skipping the center hole.
5] Thread the string back through the center hole and tighten up that stitch.
6] Tie the string around the string running along the spine, and cut off the excess

Justice For Juliette Serenity Geirts

This post is out of the norm for me however, it's a story that I felt needed to be told.  I hope that my loyal FRIENDS find it in their HEARTS to visit the webpage referenced at the bottom of this article and to sign the petition for this precious BABY GIRL.

A two-year old girl's homicide remains unsolved in western Nebraska, nearly three years after the murder.
Juliette Serenity Geurts was beaten to death on July 11, 2008, in her Gering, Neb., home.
"That Friday when I got that phone call that one of the twins had died, was the biggest shock of my life," said Monica Hall of Wisconsin, aunt of Juliette and her twin sister, Jaelyn.
"She was the outgoing one. She was the spitfire. She wasn't afraid of anything," Hall remembered.
And Juliette was also the one who was murdered.
Autopsy reports indicate Juliette was beaten to death with a four-inch laceration to her liver and bleeding to her brain. Police confirm three adults were at the home during the time she was murdered, but not one of them has been arrested.
Authorities confirm Charyse Geurts (Vardeman) – the mother of the twins, Dustin Chauncey and Brandon Townsend were all present in the home at the time Juliette was found dead in her crib.
The twins' father, Casey, was serving in the Army when his daughter was murdered.
Family members have unanswered questions. Among those: why Juliette's murder case is still unsolved after nearly three years; why investigators waited five days to seal off the house as a crime scene; why the three adults were not questioned or drug tested immediately after Juliette's murder.
Their nagging question: When will there be closure? Justice for Juliette?
The Scottsbluff County Attorney Doug Warner is the only official who can comment on Juliette's murder case. He declined FOX 42's request for an on camera interview. But he told us cases like this one "just take time."
There's three people in the house. What time do they need?" asked Amber Brunner, Gering, Neb. "It should have been solved long ago."
In a recorded phone conversation, Warner said he was "a little bit put off" after being asked how important Juliette's case was to him.
Warner said, "There is no evidence to prove which of the suspects is responsible for the death at this point."
When asked what evidence could be found years later, Warner said he could not comment.
The following is an excerpt from a recorded telephone conversation between Hall and Warner from 2010:
Doug Warner (County Attorney): "I am going to try to make this case work."
Monica Hall (Juliette's Aunt): "Well, I hope you're telling me the truth. I hope for Juliette's sake, you're telling me, you'll find justice for her."
Doug Warner (County Attorney): Now, don't give me that for Juliette. Do you know how many dead babies I've worked on? I've worked on dozens of dead baby cases."
Hall remains hopeful that one day there will be justice for her nieces – both Juliette and Jaelyn.
"When I'm 80-years old, I will be able to look at Jaelyn and tell her I did everything I could," she said.
Jaelyn is currently living with her paternal grandparents in Wisconsin while her father, Casey, is serving his third tour overseas.
While the family waits for justice, they hold onto the sweet memories of a two-year old girl, and treasure the moments with her sister, Jaelyn.
"I'm just a simple person hoping for a little justice," said Hall. "For somebody to remember that she was murdered."
Nebraska Attorney General Jon Bruning declined our request for an interview, and had no comment on this case.
We tried contacting Bruning by email and phone numerous times over the course of two weeks. His spokeswoman said he had no comment on the case since it was being handled by Doug Warner in Gering, Neb.
We asked Bruning why he has not responded to the family's plea for help, and at what point he would step in to assist in the case. Those questions were never answered.
For more information on the family's plea for public help, visit "Justice for Juliette" on face book, or JusticeforJuliette.org

Items My daughter AMANDA and I have made for her baby shower

My daughter Amanda and her husband Michael Schexnayder are expecting their first child April 21, 2012.  My first Grand-son but my second grandchild!  He'll be loved all the same.  Amanda and I have been working on somethings for her shower that we would like to share.  We would also like it noted that we would be ever so glad to make these items for anyone else that needs them and we can adapt them to any occasion.  Our fee depends on the cost of the items we need to buy for your particular occasion and the cost of shipping and handling to your location.

Here goes project # 1:

This is the GIFT BAG that we made for the gift that me, her step dad and her little brother bought for Michael Russell Schexnayder III  The BOW on the bag was made with the help of the BOWDABRA!

 Project #2
We made a  DIAPER CAKE!!   Their theme is "CAMO with some BLUE" so Amanda and I wanted the Diaper Cake to reflect that.  Hopefully we pulled that off!!

Project #3
"ONESIE"   THANK YOU CARDS!!   The ultimate Baby Shower Thank You!  They're easy to make and your guest can pick them up on their way out so you don't have to remember to mail them!!

I hope you've enjoyed what we've made so far!  More post to come soon!!!
