In a book I was looking at I came across a few things that I thought some of you might find interesting. Especially those of you that are new to crafting.
To make a card base that is the standard A2 size { 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 } from blank cardstock is as simple as 1,2,3.
Step 1
If you have a piece of 8 1/2 x 11 cardstock, cut it in half to 5 1/2 x 8 1/2. If you have a 12 x 12 piece of card stock, cut it down to 8 1/2 x 11 and then cut it in half to 5 1/2 x 8 1/2
Step 2
Place the 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 piece of cardstock onto the scoring tool and square the edges of the paper to the sides of the scoring tool. Using the pointed end of the bone folder, score the length of the cardstock at the 4 1/4 mark.
Step 3
Remove the cardstock from the scoring tool and fold the cardstock at the score. Using the side of the bone folder, crease the cardstock at the fold.
Gift Card Holder
The basic gift card holder design can be recreated for birthdays, Christmas, baby showers, and so much more by simply changing the papers and embellishments you use.
Here's the steps to a basic gift card holder:
Step 1
Using a 6 x 12 piece of paper score at 3", 6", and 9"; this creates four panels.
Step 2
Slice the paper at the 6" score mark leaving at least 1" uncut at both ends.
Step 3
Place adhesive along the 3 sides of panel 2. Do not place adhesive along the side with the slit.
Step 4
Adhere panel 2 and panel 3 together by folding the 6 x 12 sheet in half.
Step 5
Punch a half circle out of the fold with the slit.
Now for Basic BOOK MAKING TECHNIQUES
Covering a board with lighter-weight paper
A lighter-weight paper is the easiest type with which to cover a board because the corners can be tucked in, folded over and glued without producing much extra bulk.
Step 1
Cut your board to the size you want, then place it on the back of your paper and trim the paper to leave a 1 inch border around it.
Step 2
Use a glue stick to attach the board to the middle of the paper.
Step 3
Apply a touch of glue to each corner of the board, fold over the paper, then use a bone folder to push the paper in.
Step 4
Repeat on the other corners, making sure to make a sharp crease on each.
Step 5
Put some scrap paper down and apply glue to the short edges of the paper.
Step 6
Pull the edges over, making sure that the paper is tight against the board, and sharpen the crease with a bone folder.
Step 7
Repeat on the long sides.
Step 8
Cut a piece of paper slightly smaller than the board, and glue it in place as an endpaper.
I hope that these Techniques help everyone out. I will be back tomorrow to post a few more. Hopefully I will also have a project to post maybe later tonight or tomorrow!!
